DISCOVER ME

SPIERSON82
Hi,
My name is Steve. I live in Plainfield, Illinois with my wife, son and our dog. When geocaching as a family, we make up Team LEGOhead. Although, all geocaches that we find and don't find, are logged by our individual geocaching profiles.
My Origin Story
I first learned about geocaching in May of 2007. Truthfully, I do remember exactly how I became introduced to it, most likely I read something about it on the internet and thought that sounded like fun. So, I immediately signed up for an account. Unfortunately, without out a GPS receiver or a smart phone, the prospect of going out geocaching just kind of sat on the backburner for some time. Fast forward to May of 2009, after getting a new fancy smartphone, I happened to stumble across the geocaching app… and on May 25th, 2009, the family and I found our first geocache. I was hooked!
My Thoughts on this Activity/Game/Hobby of Ours
I really like geocaching for numerous reasons. Firstly, it combines my love of the outdoors and technology. It pairs very well with several of my hobbies and interests… like camping, hiking, kayaking, computers, and photography. The idea of using GPS coordinates and searching for “hidden treasures,” can add a sense of adventure to every outing – even the most mundane outing. I appreciate how geocaching takes me to new and unexpected locations, allowing me to discover hidden gems in my own neighborhood or while traveling. For the most part, I would consider myself an all-rounded geocacher. Whether it’s a numbers run with friends or a long solo trek for a lonely geocache… I’m up for the task. Afterall, there’s a time and place for every adventure and that includes everything from a LPC to 5/5. The sense of accomplishment and joy that comes with finding a well-crafted and/or well-hidden geocache is unmatched, and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. Moreover, geocaching is a fantastic activity to enjoy with friends and family. It has introduced me to a great community that further enhances my appetite for this exciting activity/game/hobby. It has also fostered friendships – friendships that I consider myself lucky to have found. Overall, geocaching has provided me with an immersive, engaging, and rewarding experience that has kept me hooked from day one, and always eager for the next adventure.
But Wait, There’s More
If you're interested, you can find my stats below. While I'm not necessarily all about the numbers... I do like stats. I don't consider myself a competitive cache, but stats are a fun way of seeing where I've been there and what I've accomplished.
Hope to see you all on the trail,

Oh, the Places You'll Go!
I have navigating through a dense forest, scaled a mountain peak, and wandering through urban streets, many geocache locations have lead me to unique experiences and lasting memories.
